"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I submit that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith."  --C.S. Lewis

It was getting very close to midnight,
and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring,
not even a mouse.
When suddenly came from a ruckous so loud,
"I'm all about you painting the town!"
"Quiet!" I yelled back to the voice,
"I Can't lose forever, you see, I have no choice!"
"Find me", said the voice, "and you will soon see,"
"That you can still fly, it's not about wings."
"But the thunder after lightning," I did reply
Is 15 minutes too late and I fear I shall cry.
For you see, good sir, you invitation never wins
And I can't go on living with whatever happens."
"My child," he replied, "your life's a story in the making.
'You choices you make are all about believing.
"So don't be so melancholy, for as you can see
You must sing this song, and join in with me."
"But someone must be looking for me," I feebly spoke
"They'll come closer to me if they find that you joke."
"Hush now, my child," he angrily said with his raised fists
"You cannot win, not even your Jesus, Ellipsis."
"But I do believe I can, and though we're 1000 miles apart,
My Jesus holds a special place in my dear heart."
Now, be gone, you devilish voice, I hear no longer what you say,
For you see, I have come to know a much better way."

Whoa. Good job. That's intense.

Good adjective, Becky! I read it to my brother and he laughed.
"Consider the story isn't over."
