Topic: Unable to access any Echomusic sites!

Hi,
I've kinda been in touch with John from Centricity about this (I originally thought it was an issue on echomusic's end) but now I'm not sure what is going on...

I am currently accessing this board from a Panera.  I can also access it from school.  When at home, however, I can access the sites sometimes but other times it says that they cannot be found.  Initially I thought it was a time sensitive thing (it seemed to occur in the evenings) but I couldn't access anything this morning either.  Most mornings I can, same with most afternoons (and some evenings.)  It doesn't seem to make sense...

I know a lot about tech and servers but thus far the only conclusion I've been able to draw is that it affects everything on the echomusic server (including non-Centricity sites) I can access any other site except things on that server.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Does anyone else have comcast internet?  (maybe it is relative to my ISP?)  

Any ideas?

Hmmm...No, I haven't had any problems connecting.  I usually connect from home via cable internet (not comcast), but I've been able to connect via wireless internet as well....so yeah, I don't know....sorry!  I hope the issue gets resolved soon.

OK... I'm at my apartment... on this board...

Yet for the past two days, I have not been able to access it at all from home...

No, it doesn't make sense.  The board is quirky sometimes....they are still working out some bugs.  I'm glad you were able to get on at home!

Possible cause is your ISP's or home PC's firewall.  Though the randmoness for times is kinda screwy.

I've seen Norton AV and firewall do screwier things though

Firewall has been off and Norton wasn't the cause (I could access it using same computer from other locations)

I'm thinking it was either my IP address not agreeing with the echomusic server (which wouldn't explain why I could access it occasionaly from this IP address- like now) or Comcast was blocking echomusic for some reason (it affected EVERYTHING on the echomusic server... not just the downhere site and this board)

Or maybe God was just tryin to get me to focus on Him and my homework a few days... He's probably the only one who can honestly control a PC :-)

I just got onto the site after being unable to for a couple months!  I don't know why it didn't work or what changed - I hope it keeps working for me, and you too!

I was able to get on 3 days in a row... now I am back to being unable to access any echomusic site from home... soo weird!

I find this whole situation quite comical!  I guess their server and my ISP have a love-hate affair of sorts... it has definitely been humbling!  (4 years of tech support and many more of working with computers... I'm beginning to realize how little I know...)

Gina, did you ever get your problem with accessing the downhere site fixed?  I am having the same problem - I can't get it at my house or work, I'm at the library right now.  Let me know if you have any info, or anybody else for that matter.

Try this command from the Windows command prompt:

nslookup downhere.com

What does that give you? The output from that command should indicate whether or not Windows can find downhere.com, which could be an insight into the connection issues.

The issue ended up being related to my wireless router.  Apparently it randomly blocks anything related to echomusic (why, I'm not sure...) but resetting the router (ie.  unplugging power and network cable and plugging them back in) causes everything to work properly again.  

The issue happens sporadically so I am still not sure what triggers it.  Only echomusic sites are affected (it includes anything on that server- from Centricity and downhere.com to keith urban's site and the GMA site.  Resetting the router has worked every time.

As far as your issue… try what Oldiesmann recommended.  None of my web tricks would work because of the way the site is set up (to prevent hackers) but it should at least give you a valid IP address.  See if you can access any other echomusic sites… like centricityrecords.com, circleslide.net, etc… also, can you tell us what the page says (is it just timing out or does it say the downhere website is blocked?)  If we can't figure this out here, I'll give you John's email addy- He can help you!!

Thanks for the tips, I'll try those things next time I'm at home.  I know I'm unable to access any of the centricity sites, as well as Gospel Music Channel site.  I have wireless too, so hopefully doing what you did will work for me too.

Yup, unplugging the wireless router and plugging it back in worked for me too!  So simple, but I just never tried it.  Hopefuly I will be able to get on the site from now on!  Thanks for your help guys!
