Project Finalists Announced for 11th Annual NAIOP Real Estate Excellence (REX) Awards

TORONTO, Feb. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - Project Finalists for this year's REX Awards have been announced by The Greater Toronto Chapter of NAIOP. The awards will be presented at the 11th Annual NAIOP Real Estate Excellence (REX) Awards gala which takes place March 7, 2012 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The awards recognize outstanding achievements in the commercial real estate industry.

............

This year's Awards gala will feature YouTube sensation Marc Martel of Nashville. Martel, a native of Montreal and member of the Juno-winning band Downhere, became internationally renowned for his rendition of Queen's 'Somebody to Love'. He was subsequently honoured by the MTV O Awards 2 when fans across the country voted him winner of the Best Fan Cover. In December he was selected by a panel of world-class musicians to perform in the tribute project Queen Extravaganza, which tours later this year. Marc Martel and his band will rock the audience with classic Queen songs.

Who is going to be playing with him, people from the Queen Extravaganza?

I am curious to know what "his band" refers to. HIS Band is Downhere. ;)

Yeah, in the absence of more explanation that looks like downhere to me. I don't think it would be Queen Extravaganza people. Unless they decided to get together on their own time, I don't think the QE band is rehearsing together until after this event takes place.

I wish they wouldn't keep calling Downhere "Marc's band." I guess it's just a personal irritant. It's not just HIS band, like Matthew West has a band with him, or Natalie Grant might have a band with her! It's their band!
But I know what they mean. And now that I've said that, I can live the rest of my life in peace.  ;)

I bet that would feel rather weird, to do a whole show of other people's songs. It would be neat to see, though!
You seem a decent fellow, I'd hate to kill you.

GOA site shows that Downhere is booked in Toronto on that date for a "closed event".  So, I'm thinking it is Downhere and not the QE band.

Ah, makes sense.  I wonder how many Queen songs they could play, probably quite a few by now....

And you won't come out of this the same, no
But my love will be your strength for tonight
We'll take it one small step, two at a time...

My Dad would be over the moon if they did Under Pressure Live and posted the video online. (With Jay doing the DB parts. lol)

I think the band could do it pretty well. Although I semi-hope they sneak in a song or two of theirs. (Even if it's just Audience. ;) )

Cool they are doing that as a band, though I would be very surprised if Jason joined them... I was under the impression he was staying at home for a while after the baby came.

Marc, Jer and Glenn have done Queen gigs before. I got to hear them practice a set in December and, no surprise, they sound awesome.
