When life changes in an instant
« on: July 2, 2009, 5:35:52 PM »
When my 11 year old daughter was in a severe car accident, the song "Calmer of the Storm" helped sustain me through some extremely difficult days.  Kym was in a coma for 13 days and sustained multiple broken bones, Cortical Vision Impairment and a severe Traumatic Brain Injury.
Two years later, when I spoke at a Brain Injury Conference, I showed a power point presentation of Kym...from the accident scene, therapies, horseback riding, and Kym being baptised at the age of 13. In the background I had "Calmer of the Storm" playing.
I was later told by many that it was a powerful presentation.

Awesome story :) Thanks for sharing
It’s alright, it’s ok if I lose today
In the end I know You will
It’s ok, it’s alright if I lose this fight
In the end I'm expecting that everything will go Your way

Calmer has been a powerful song for many of us in our distinct walks, and it's amazing to see/hear in how many different ways it's ministered to our hearts.  Thanks for sharing your testimony, Darlene.

And even though it's one of their first songs, those of us who discovered later, are still ministered to by it. Thanks for sharing with us.

I couldn't even cry. There was a lump in my throat that wouldn't go away. My oldest brother was going off to college and Although I was happy that he was moving on I still wanted us to be able to be kids again. Because we were homeschooled my brother was my best friend. We did just about everything together. Although we did have our disagreements I reminisced about all the wonderful times we had watching movies and teasing each other and all the other things. On our way back from Hanover where we had dropped my brother off at Dartmouth, we put Downheres Ending is Beginning into the cd player and put the play mode on random. It began to play Hope is Rising. The words summed up what I felt at that time but then the chorus started. Hope is Rising it's the sunrise for the end Hope is risingbane it's breathing for me again!!! At that moment God spoke to my heart and comforted me. He'd always be there and that even though we can't go back we can strive to make upcoming times more worthwhile. Hope is Rising!!!
Jesus is my all. Noons can take that away from me even when the last fragments of my shattered life are scattered abroad to be trampled, trod under foot.  He remains. When the beautifully created sunset disappears and the sky turns into a mass of black clouds and fierce strips of lightning that light up and shake the earth with unmatched force. Only
His power can match it for when He commands "Peace be Still" everything ceases and He picks me up and carries me  on His way of righteousness. He remains through it all when others don't. When my unused vessel is shattered by shame,He remains.

I can relate. My brother and I are really close. We were home schooled too. But we still live together and go to the same school, so we haven't yet had to part ways. But I imagine it's going to be hard when one of us moves out.
