Rock or Coral

The only direction to grow is outwardly. And that which does not grow, will surely die. Compare for example a rock and a piece of coral, seemingly two very similar hard objects. But the only future for a rock is erosion, whereas a piece of coral can grow into an entire barrier reef. Growth is vital to life. Indeed some would say it is the very thing that distinguishes a living object from a dead one.

brings the question, can a person without growth, die spiritually before physically?

Hmmm....  So the fact that my waistline has increased since high school means I'm alive?!  And all those skinny people are on the verge of death?!  LOL

No, seriously....  The Bible tells us we need to be producing fruit in our lives.  If we aren't "growing outward" and impacting people (thereby spreading the gospel with our lives like a pebble thrown in a pond that creates rippling waves that spread outwards) we might as well be dead.  God's word says that faith without works is dead.
